The 2016 Acura ILX: Reviewing What We Know

March 2nd, 2015 by

The 2016 Acura ILX is on its way to Chicagoland Acura Dealers, and while we are waiting for it to arrive in our showrooms, we thought you could use a review of what we know about Acura’s new entry-level luxury sedan. We think it’s going to be better than ever.

An Introduction to Affordable Luxury

The ILX began its life with one simple idea: give drivers access to luxury sedans at a young age rather than pricing them out of reach. While Acura has always been about delivering affordable luxury to their drivers, the ILX took that to a whole new level, and the 2016 model looks like it will be doing more of the same.

Under the hood is a new 2.4L four-cylinder engine with 201 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, a significant boost in power over the old standard 2.0L four-cylinder of the 2015 model. Paired to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission with torque converter and giving you easy control over all 201 horses with sequential sport shift via steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters, the ILX is just as powerful and fun-to-drive as it is practical.

While the ILX has some of the best standard features in its class, we think that the upgradeable amenities on Acura’s new sedan truly set it apart:

  • The Premium Package adds on perforated leather seating, Acura’s On Demand Multi-Use Display (ODMD), a blind-spot information system, a rear cross-traffic alert system, premium audio with a subwoofer, and more.
  • The Technology Plus & A-Spec Package takes things a step further with aluminum pedals, 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, a premium ELS surround sound stereo, Acura’s new navigation system with 3D view, and quite a bit more.

The entry-level 2016 Acura ILX with a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine, front-wheel drive, and 8-speed dual-clutch transmission is available at $27,900 (MSRP),* giving drivers access to many luxury and technology features at an affordable price point.
