The 2015 Acura MDX vs. the 2015 Acura RDX
It’s part of our job to give Chicagoland drivers an idea of how our Acura models stand up against the competition, but we get quite a few drivers who visit our showrooms wondering how our own models compare to one another. While there are certainly some similarities among our sedans, the fact is that we are asked nearly every day about which of our crossovers is right for Chicago families.
In the comparison of the 2015 Acura MDX vs the 2015 Acura RDX, there isn’t a wrong choice, but there may be one that’s better for you. So rather than compare the MDX and the RDX to the competition, we’ll highlight what makes them different from each other to give you an idea of which is right for you.
The 2015 Acura MDX
The 2015 Acura MDX is a seven-passenger crossover that embraces the high-tech, high-power, high-class reputation of the Acura brand from tip to tail. Reinvented for the 2014 model year, Acura brought back what everyone loved for 2015, including a powerful yet efficient engine, some of the best in-cabin features, and some amenities that are unique to Acura—like the Jewel Eye LED headlights.
Under the hood of the MDX is a 290-hp 3.5L V6 engine with 267 lb-ft of torque that makes sure your SUV has the power it needs when it needs it, and this engine combines with a six-speed automatic transmission to grant the 2015 MDX an EPA-estimated highway fuel economy of 28 mpg.*
It looks great, it’s well-equipped, and there’s room for the whole family.
The 2015 Acura RDX
The truth is that there’s quite a lot in common between the RDX and the MDX, with the biggest difference being that the 2015 Acura RDX seats only five, finding a way to give drivers access to SUV-like levels of interior space and storage in a compact crossover.
You’ll find a 3.5L V6 under the hood of the RDX as well, though this one is rated at 273 hp and 251 lb-ft of torque. Acura engineering gives the 2015 RDX 6-Spd AT an EPA-estimated highway fuel economy of 28 mpg,* just like the MDX.
While the MDX is a great choice for larger families or those who may need their SUV to regularly double as a work vehicle, the RDX is a great fit for families just getting started but looking for the class offered by a luxury crossover.
