Our 2016 Acura RDX Review

February 26th, 2015 by

The 2016 Acura RDX was just unveiled at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, and while we don’t have the model in stock quite yet at Chicagoland Acura Dealers, we thought it was a good time to review what we know about this luxurious compact crossover and what’s in store for the new version. We have to admit that we’ll be surprised if there are too many sweeping changes for the crossover, as 2014 was the vehicle’s best year to date.

Mike Accavitti, Acura’s Senior Vice President and General Manager, responded to the successes of the crossover: “The RDX ended on a high note in 2014, posting its best sales year ever. The 2016 RDX gets a major infusion of Acura brand DNA … further solidifying its place as the one to beat in the entry luxury SUV segment.”

Key Powertrain Updates

One of the most noticeable updates to the RDX is under the hood. Its 3.5L V6 engine has a power output of 279 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque while becoming more fuel efficient: 2016 Acura RDX FWD models are rated at an EPA-estimated 29 highway and 20 city mpg.*

For improved control and stability in all-weather performance, the RDX’s available all-wheel drive system with Intelligent Control has been adjusted to offer a greater rear torque bias.

New Features

Two of the highlights of the 2016 RDX are the Advance Package and the new AcuraWatch driver safety technology:

  • The Advance Package adds on keyless remote ignition, front foglights, rain-sensing wipers, ventilated front seating, and more.
  • The new AcuraWatch technology available on the RDX includes driver assistance technologies and safety features like lane departure and forward collision warning systems, adaptive cruise control, and collision mitigation braking.

This is all in addition to popular package upgrades from 2015 like the Technology Package, Acura’s available navigation system with voice controls, and standard features that include a rearview camera, Bluetooth, a touchscreen infotainment system, leather upholstery, and heated front seating.

Put simply: we would be amazed if there’s a driver who wouldn’t be satisfied with the 2016 Acura RDX.
