Our 2016 Acura ILX Review

February 11th, 2015 by

It’s only a matter of time before the 2016 Acura ILX makes its way to the streets of Chicago, and we want you to know as much as you can about it before we hand over the keys to you for your own personal review. We want to be clear that while this vehicle shares the same name with the 2015 Acura ILX, designers and engineers have revolutionized Acura’s gateway vehicle to make it even more appealing to the young professional.

The ILX Greeted the World in LA

The 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show surely had quite a few announcements, but the most memorable for us was the debut of the 2016 Acura ILX sports sedan. The 2015 Acura TLX has been receiving quite a bit of attention lately, and while we do think that it’s one of the most remarkable cars on the road, we’re glad that we finally have more news on the new ILX.

The goal of the ILX was always to give drivers the ability to enjoy the perks of driving a luxury sedan before hitting retirement age, and Acura has been listening to those ILX drivers as they add more features, cutting edge technology, and that which makes an Acura an Acura.

More than just a typical mid-cycle refresh, the 2016 ILX will be a mixture of luxury sedan practicality and sports car performance. You’ll notice that sporty sensibility right from the start, too, with a bolder front fascia with Aura’s Jewel Eye LED headlights. The rear is redesigned as well, featuring a new bumper and LED taillights for a more sophisticated look.

Acura promises that the biggest changes to the ILX are the ones that you can’t see, however. Designed to respond to the will of the driver, this new sedan will feature a 2.4L four-cylinder engine paired with Acura’s eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, raising peak output by 51 hp and 40 lb-ft of torque over the previous model.
