Motor Trend Appreciates the 2014 Acura MDX

May 14th, 2013 by

Although it looks similar to the previous MDX, the vehicle has undergone a complete overhaul that drivers are sure to be pleased with. Motor Trend recently reviewed the 2014 MDX (linked below) and was highly satisfied with this new and improved model.

The Acura MDX was the manufacturer’s best-selling vehicle for 2012, and even despite high gas prices and the popularity of hybrid options, many Acura customers still put the MDX at the top of their list. The 2012 edition of this vehicle was quite remarkable, but the new 2014 model is even more impressive.

High strength steel, HVAC, subframes, rear suspension and lighter seats have allowed the 2014 MDX to drop nearly 300 pounds! These features, along with an improved aerodynamic design have led to the MDX’s class-leading fuel economy.

The 2014 MDX is also designed to be safer than its predecessor. Acura’s ACE body structure is predicted to earn the MDX top distinctions from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Seven airbags offer maximum occupant protection, and features like lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, a blind-spot monitor, and lane departure warning help prevent an accident from even happening in the first place.

The interior of the MDX is also noteworthy. More soft-touch materials and less faux wood add sophistication and style. The amount of buttons in the center stack has decreased from 41 to a much more manageable nine. Less buttons does not mean less tech features, however. The MDX is loaded with the latest technology such as Bluetooth, USB connectivity, a wide-view backup camera, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and tri-zone automatic climate control just to name a few.
