Drivers Find More in the RLX than Mercedes E350

September 4th, 2013 by

We can tell you with confidence that we have faith in the 2014 Acura RLX. So much faith, in fact, that we think it deserves your attention before the Mercedes E350. Now, we know some of you may be diehard fans of the Mercedes line, but we think we can sway you.

First, though, you should make sure you take a look at the RLX inside and out. We’ve got a picture over there to your right that will give you an idea, but you should really get a look at it firsthand by visiting a Chicagoland Acura dealer. It really is a modern marvel of automotive engineering.

Acura Means Dependability and Luxury

We are not going to tell you that the Mercedes E350 is fraught with problems, because that’s something we really can’t know this early in the life of a vehicle. The 2013 model has been out for a short time, and chances are that all of them are running great.

But when you make an investment in a luxury sedan, you don’t want to take your chances, and Acura understands this. Drivers of the Mercedes will get a 48-month/50,000-mile powertrain warranty, but if you drive home the 2014 RLX, your powertrain is covered for as long as 72 months or 70,000 miles.

There’s more, though. The ALG residual value of the E450 is 44% after 36 months, which is not too bad, but the RLX has a 51% ALG residual value in the same time period. Put simply, the RLX depreciates more slowly than the E350.

Yet another indication that the Acura is a better investment. Of course, there’s more to a car than money. What’s included on the RLX that makes you want to drive it more than the E350? Well, quite a few things, we think.

Here are some standard features of the RLX that you won’t find on the Mercedes:

  • Built-in hard disk drive
  • Rear seat heating/air conditioning controls
  • Rearview camera system
  • Front heated seating
  • Satellite radio
