Automaker About Everything Supports Show About Nothing
If there is one thing that most viewers take away from the popular sitcom Seinfeld, it’s that it was, as Jerry Seinfeld put it, a show about nothing, just people living their lives. Starting up the second season of his web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Seinfeld looks to be following a similar premise, though on at least a few occasions, the comedians in the cars drinking the coffee talk about cars.
The popularity of both of Seinfeld’s series has led Acura to sponsor the second season of the show, but it seems like a strange case of opposites attracting. While Seinfeld’s shows are supposedly about nothing, Acura is an automaker that is routinely known for being about everything, giving quite a bit to drivers of their luxury vehicles while offering prices that demolish the idea that a luxury car has to be expensive.
A Perfect Match
Despite the differences, however, Seinfeld has been a huge fan of Acura vehicles for some time, and it appears as though at least a few people at Acura are as big of fans of the show as we are. Not only are they covering the costs of the second season, but the season is expanding as well, including 24 episodes.
Although it looks as though Seinfeld will be driving one of his classic cars in each of the episodes, advertisements showcasing the future of the Acura lineup will accompany them, and there will be one trip for coffee that happens behind the wheel of the 2014 MDX. We think that whoever accompanies Jerry on that trip will be in for a pleasant surprise; while the MDX would not be called a “classic car” by most drivers, there is quite a bit in its design that borrows from the successes of classic cars from years past.
