AcuraLink Next Generation

  • Acura MDX Dashboard

We think AcuraLink Next Generation is one of the features that makes Acura crossovers some of the best midsize SUVs available in Chicago. Read on to see just what is included with this advanced telematics package, available on all new Acura vehicles.

What Is AcuraLink Next Generation?

While most cars have connectivity via Bluetooth these days, few of them go beyond that. AcuraLink Next Generation combines your smartphone and your vehicle in exciting new ways, integrating the vehicle with cloud-based services to stream music and podcasts, deliver e-mails, read tweets, and more. And the best part? It doesn’t take any extra controls, instead using the normal steering wheel–mounted radio controls of your Acura.

The available Connect package lets the Acura send and receive data with its built-in cellular antenna, connecting it to your smartphone, tablet, or computer from wherever there’s an Internet connection. Set the alarm, check tire pressure and fuel levels, lock the doors, and even beep the horn with a few taps on the AcuraLink app. Anywhere your vehicle is able to receive a cellular signal, AcuraLink is ready.

Which Vehicles Are Compatible?

The following new Acura vehicles are compatible with AcuraLink Next Generation:

  • 2017 Acura ILX
  • 2017 Acura TLX
  • 2017 Acura RDX
  • 2017 Acura MDX
  • 2016 Acura RLX

While AcuraLink is standard on vehicles like the MDX and the RLX, select models may require an upgrade for the telematics service; be sure to ask your Acura team member which packages include AcuraLink Next Generation when you visit for a test drive.

AcuraLink Apps

One of the reasons AcuraLink is so intuitive and brings such a successful system to your vehicle is because it has special apps that are designed to work with Acura models. Other systems rely on Bluetooth and hope that the apps on the phone get along with the system on the vehicle.

AcuraLink apps include:

  • Connect: This is the main app that does it all, letting you access your car from a smartphone or your computer and making it easy for the two systems to communicate with each other.
  • Streams: This app brings cloud-based content to your stereo system, reading Facebook and Twitter feeds and streaming audio.
  • Roadside Assistance: With just a tap on the screen, you’ll be put in touch with Acura’s roadside assistance crew with a live agent on the other end. They can dispatch roadside assistance or emergency services as needed.
  • Virtual Tour: This app gives you a walkthrough of all of the services included in AcuraLink so you can know how best to take advantage of them.
  • Accessories: The Accessories app connects you to the Acura store and shows you the list of available accessories for your vehicle to best customize it to fit your needs.

It’s apps like these that make vehicles like the 2017 Acura RDX some of the best luxury crossover SUV options, going beyond simply in-car amenities and keeping you connected every step of the way.

AcuraLink Packages

Not everyone is going to have the same needs of their telematics system, and that’s why there are three different AcuraLink packages available:

  • Standard: This basic package includes support for cloud-based navigation and streaming media as well as updated traffic data for your navigation. It’s included with the first three years of ownership at no cost to you (traffic data requires a subscription after three years).
  • Connect: Transform your vehicle into a digital hub that takes advantage of all of those apps we mentioned, keeping you connected to your Acura from anywhere you can access the Internet.
  • Premium: This package adds to Connect with 24/7 access to a live concierge that can help with everything from business needs to personal needs, directing you to a destination, reserving a table at a restaurant, or booking a flight.

How to Sign Up for AcuraLink

  • Press “Link” on your overhead console.
