AcuraLink Gets an Update for the 2014 MDX
If you’ve been paying attention to all of the tech updates coming out from Acura, you might be forgiven for thinking that they are in the computing and technology industry rather than the automotive industry. With Siri coming soon to Chicagoland Acura dealers and now AcuraLink receiving an update for the 2014 MDX, it’s clear that luxurious amenities such as leather upholstery and heated seats fall right in line with technology on the automaker’s priorities, as they should.
What is AcuraLink?
Designed as a cloud-based system, AcuraLink is built to provide the driver with the latest information on street conditions, traffic, and more. While the era of self-driving cars may be a bit off, systems such as this can advise you on some of the best ways to drive more efficiently and save yourself some time in the process.
A range of security features and media options are accessible through the console and the embedded cellular system (AcuraLink is free to owners of their vehicles for up to three years, however many of its features can be accessed via a connected smartphone as well).
With a dual-screen center console, the top 8-inch display can be used for relevant information like weather conditions and the current time, while the bottom screen is a 7-inch touchscreen that serves as the control center. The 7-inch screen allows access to navigation, a variety of media options, and much more.
As an added benefit, by creating a touchscreen interface for controls, Acura has cut down the number of physical buttons from over 40 to just 9. This is just one of the many ways that these tech innovations are reducing behind-the-wheel distractions and helping you to keep your eyes on the road.
