Acura Puts New Technology on Display in the 2016 ILX
We’ve been talking about the newly unveiled 2016 Acura ILX for a little bit now, and we think that we should devote a special section to the safety technology that’s available on this new car, specifically AcuraWatch and the high-tech amenities that give you an extra level of safety when you’re behind the wheel.
What is AcuraWatch?
AcuraWatch is the catchy name for the new suite of safety features, reminding you that your Acura is looking out for you whenever you’re behind the wheel. With a combination of cameras and radar, the following features raise the safety of vehicles like the ILX to a whole new level.
The AcuraWatch suite for the 2016 ILX includes
- Lane Keeping Assist System
- Adaptive Cruise Control
- Road Departure Mitigation
- Enhanced Collision Mitigation Braking System (with pedestrian sensing capability)
Now, we think that most of these are probably self explanatory, though we want to single out the Collision Mitigation Braking System, as we’re particularly excited about that. Not only can this system help slow or even stop your vehicle before it might hit another car, it can also sense when pedestrians are nearby and ensure that you don’t bump into one of them.
There’s no substitute for paying attention when you’re behind the wheel, but AcuraWatch does its best to help protect you even if you didn’t see that car’s brake lights fast enough.
Many of these same features can be found on current Acura models like the 2015 Acura TLX as well, proving yet again that Acura is an automaker at the forefront of automobile safety as well as luxury and comfort.
