Can 2016 Lexus GX 460 4WD Standard Features Compare to an Acura?

September 15th, 2016 by

Acura MDXAs a full-size luxury crossover, the 2016 Lexus GX 460 4WD standard features should be state-of-the-art, especially when priced at $50,780. While the GX 460 has an edge over standard SUVs and even some crossovers from BMW and Infiniti, we’ve found it has a tough time keeping up with the 2017 Acura MDX. Not only is the MDX more competitively priced—2017 MDX Base models are priced at $43,950 (MSRP)*—it offers drivers more in the way of features as well.

Acura Features vs. Lexus Features

With a price difference like that between the MDX and the GX 460, drivers might expect more out of the Lexus standard features, but when we put their lists of amenities side by side, we found quite a few amenities on the Acura that weren’t on the 2016 Lexus GX 460 4WD standard features list.

Here are just a few of the features of the MDX that are not found on the Lexus:

  • Rear heating and air-conditioning controls
  • Voice-activated technology controls
  • Power liftgate
  • Speed-sensing interval wipers
  • Leather-trimmed seating
  • Heated front seats
  • Exterior perimeter lighting
  • Noise and sound cancellation
  • Remote tailgate release

Acura also includes paddle shifters as standard for quick and easy changing of gears, giving you the control of a manual transmission with the convenience and fuel economy of an automatic.

If the four-wheel drive of the Lexus is a sticking point for you, the MDX is available with Acura’s Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) with torque vectoring. This unique AWD system engages automatically when it senses a loss of traction and sends torque to the wheels as needed, for improved control without sacrificing efficiency like an always-on four-wheel drive system.
