2016 ILX

Every inch of the 2016 Acura ILX is precision engineered for performance and class while remaining one of the most affordable entries into the luxury car world for our Chicagoland drivers.

Powerful yet agile

The 201-hp 2.4L four-cylinder engine of the ILX makes any lane the “fast lane,” offering up high-octane fun behind the wheel with a fuel economy optimized for guilt-free joyrides. The 8-speed dual-clutch transmission gives you new levels of control over each of those 201 horses.

The new ILX borrowed the base 2.4L four-cylinder engine of its sport sedan sibling, the TLX. It’s an aluminum block engine with direct injection that delivers 201 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque (SAE net). All of that power comes from a traditionally designed engine featuring immediate throttle response instead of the delay that comes from turbochargers.

    8-Speed Dual Clutch Transmission

We think a transmission that was originally developed for racers fits right in on the ILX, offering smoother and faster shifting with improved efficiency over a traditional automatic transmission. This DCT was designed in-house at Acura, specifically to pair with the ILX engine.

    Performance Pedals

There’s something about the look of polished aluminum pedals with a raised black grip that begs a driver to see what a car is truly capable of. We already touched on the accelerator response, but when you need to brake, strengthened calipers respond to a tap of the brake pedal. The shape of the pedal is even designed for superior vehicle response.

Through a combination of MacPherson struts (front) and multi-link (rear), the ILX brings some of the most responsive handling to the table. The strut suspension allows for more crash reinforcement on the front end while the multi-link design increases rear seating and cargo storage in the trunk, mixing and matching to optimize the ILX all over.

  • 2016 Acura ILX

    Steering System

The ILX already had a rigid steering assembly mount for tighter control, and the new model strengthens it further. The result is an increased, linear steering feel that should reduce overall vibration and offer superior precision that accounts for what speed you’re cruising at.

    Body Structure

The ILX is wrapped in dynamic lines built to turn the heads of pedestrians and drivers, but the most impressive part of its body can’t be seen. Reinforced joints in the frame and the replacement of multiple components with single pieces has smoothed the overall stress flow. You’ll feel the stiffened response of the ILX’s reinforced body once you get behind the wheel, though.

Looking sharp

The ILX’s luxurious side can be seen in every machined crease of the sheet metal, much like a well-tailored suit. But those same lines taper toward a rear end with wide wheel overhangs for a more aggressive look and feel.

    Rearview Camera

Every 2016 Acura ILX comes with a standard multi-angle rearview camera that automatically displays on the 5-inch color display when you shift into reverse. Choose from a top-down, wide-angle, or standard rear view for peace of mind when backing up.

    Jewel Eye LED Headlights

New to the ILX, Jewel Eye LED headlights give this luxury sedan the distinctive look of an Acura. With five LEDs per headlight, the ILX broadcasts a brighter and wider beam than traditional headlights while also using less energy than halogen or HID bulbs.

    Keyless Access

Unlock the ILX and start the engine without ever taking your keys from your pocket or purse with the Keyless Access System. Your car can detect when the key fob is near and will unlock the doors as you put your hand on the handle. Then it’s just the push of a button, and you’re on your way.

Quiet cabin

With Active Sound Control to help cancel out unwanted engine sounds and standard noise-reducing wheels to cut resonation, the ILX is perfect for when you want to get away.

    Front Seating

The plush seating of the ILX is enough to make you want to just take a load off of your feet and relax whether you have somewhere to go or not. Eight-way power-adjustable seating on the driver’s side takes behind-the-wheel comfort to new heights. And when those bitter Chicago winters set in, the standard dual-level heaters will keep you and a front passenger comfortable.

  • 2016 Acura ILX

    Rear Seating

The flat rear floor gives all three seats an equal amount of legroom, letting all of your passengers stretch out and get comfortable. If you don’t need to fill the back seat, a center armrest folds down and features built-in cup holders for your passengers.

  • 2016 Acura ILX

    Automatic Climate Control

When you drive an ILX, you can stop adjusting the temperature controls every few minutes. The standard dual-zone automatic climate control helps ensure no one is too hot or too cold. The available Technology Plus Package adds on a solar sensor and GPS that adjusts heating and cooling automatically.

    Advanced Steering and Controls

The ILX is loaded with the latest in sophisticated controls, and in addition to the standard touchscreen, you’ll find steering wheel-mounted audio, phone, and cruise controls. Of course, with the available voice controls, you need only speak a word, and the system will respond to one of 600 different commands with navigation, music, and more.

  • 2016 Acura ILX

    On-Demand Multi-Use Display

Rather than try to load up the center console with controls for all different kinds of audio and climate systems, Acura designers have the available On-Demand Multi-Use Display (ODMD). This customizable interface streamlines the look of the ILX interior and gives you direct, intuitive control over all vehicle settings.

SMS Texting / Siri Eyes Free

It’s impossible for an automaker to eliminate the desire to check a text message while driving, so Acura did the next best thing: integrate SMS texting. The ILX is designed to make full use of the Siri Eyes Free technology of iPhones, using voice controls for important settings, including texting. Don’t worry, though, non-iPhone users can have their SMS texts announced (with the option to have them read aloud).

Acura engineers’ top priority

Even the standard 2016 Acura ILX has some of the most advanced safety features, but with the new AcuraWatch Plus suite of safety and driver assistance technologies, the ILX can help you avoid collisions before they happen.

    Active Seat Belts

Within milliseconds of impact, the tensioner system on the ILX’s front seat belts automatically tightens and secures the occupant in place to reduce the risk of injury. And all seating positions feature three-point seat belts and head restraints to help reduce the risk of neck injury in an accident.

  • 2016 Acura ILX

    Child Safety

In order for a child to be truly safe in a car, he or she needs to be secured properly. Each ILX has sophisticated sensors to deactivate airbags for children in the front seat as well as pull-up LATCH-compliant anchors to secure a child safety seat in place. Even the windows are designed to notice if a hand or finger is in the way, stopping short and letting a child take their hand back in.

  • 2016 Acura ILX

    ACE Body Structure

The ILX uses an Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure underneath all of its style and class to help keep passengers safe. In addition to featuring crumple zones designed to direct damage away from passengers, the whole frame is built to more evenly distribute accident energy. There are even extra braces added to the front corners to better protect during off-center collisions.

  • 2016 Acura ILX

    Collision Mitigation Braking

With AcuraWatch Plus, the ILX has its own set of eyes on the road. With a radar transmitter and a front-facing camera, the ILX can detect if a collision is likely and alert you. It can even engage the Collision Mitigation Braking System to begin slowing you down.

  • 2016 Acura ILX

    Lane Keeping Assist

The ILX with AcuraWatch Plus can keep track of your lane position with a forward-facing camera mounted in front of the rearview mirror. If it detects you drifting without signaling, Lane Keeping Assist will gently nudge the steering wheel until you are centered again.

  • 2016 Acura ILX

    Blind Spot Information

You should always check your blind spot, but the available Blind Spot Information system is a second set of eyes. By using radar, it can detect if a vehicle is in an “alert zone” that indicates you might be unable to see it. Not only does it light up an indicator as warning, if you switch your signal on to move into that lane, the corresponding side flashes and a warning beep will sound.
