The 2016 Acura RLX with Technology Package Features Place It a Step Above the Competition
When Chicagoland drivers shop for a new luxury sedan, they know that the Acura brand delivers some of the latest amenities; it just takes a look at the 2016 Acura RLX with Technology Package features to see the height of technology and comfort. The RLX Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive model is among some of the best all-wheel drive sedans available to help Chicago drivers weather those harsh winter months.
To give you an idea of what sets this Acura apart from its competitors, we set it up against the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E350. Which do you think comes out ahead?
Acura vs. Mercedes-Benz
While there are some drivers who think the legacy of European luxury sedans is reason enough to stick with them, we think it’s important to look at the cars and what they offer to each driver before settling. After all, if you’re investing in a new luxury sedan, shouldn’t it be one of the finest cars on the road?
While the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E350 is far from lackluster, we’ve found it lacking when compared to the 2016 Acura RLX with Technology Package’s features. That tech package is standard on this Acura sedan and it helps boost it well beyond the E350 with advantages like:
- Tech Features: Technology can help keep you connected and safe on the road, and the 2016 RLX comes standard with a multi-angle rearview camera, voice-activated controls, adaptive cruise control, satellite-linked navigation, and much more. While the E350 has some comparable amenities available, they require upgrades.
- Comfort Features: Rear heating and air-conditioning, leather-trimmed seating, heated front seats, and active noise cancellation are all on the RLX and are either unavailable or require an upgrade on the Benz.
- Fuel Economy: The standard 2016 RLX earns an EPA-estimated 31 highway mpg* to the E350’s 29 mpg on the highway. Drivers looking for more efficiency can step up to the more powerful and more efficient RLX Sport Hybrid.
- Powertrain Warranty: The powertrain encompasses some of the most expensive parts of the vehicle, and the Mercedes-Benz only covers 48 months or 50,000 miles while the Acura powertrain warranty lasts for 72 months or 70,000 miles.
For a more thorough look at how these two sedans compare, check out our 2016 Mercedes-Benz E350 review where we look at the price, fuel economy, power, and more of the standard RLX and E350—and don’t forget that the RLX has the Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive model available as well for added power, control, and fuel efficiency.
When it comes to a full-size sedan, we think it’s just too tough to beat an Acura RLX.
Test Drive an RLX
Reading posts like this and doing competitive comparisons of the features is exactly what you should be doing when shopping for a new luxury sedan—after all, it’s a pretty big investment—but nothing compares to a test drive.
