2016 Acura MDX Reviews: What Critics Think

April 4th, 2015 by

The 2016 Acura MDX reviews are coming in now that the latest version of Acura’s crossover is available, and we have to say that we are impressed to see just how well it is doing again. At Chicagoland Acura Dealers, we know the value of the MDX, but we think it’s good for our drivers to see that it’s not just our love of the Acura brand that has us singing the MDX’s praises. See what the critics have to say.

Straight from the Critics

We have reviews from four well-known auto critics, and considering how new the 2016 MDX is, it’s just a matter of time before more roll in.

  • Kelley Blue Book says you’ll like the MDX if “…you’re looking for a luxury crossover SUV big enough to hold the entire family, luxurious enough to impress the neighbors, and reliable enough to keep well past the last payment date.”
  • Car and Driver breaks down the updates to the drivetrain: “Though the fine 290-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 introduced for 2014 remains, the old six-speed [transmission] has been junked in favor of a state-of-the-art nine-speed unit. Despite the three additional ratios, the new gearbox saves a considerable 66 pounds. Gear selection dispenses with a traditional linkage and is now handled electronically, via pushbuttons.”
  • The Car Connection puts the recent updates in perspective, looking at how they reflect the legacy of the MDX: “The Acura MDX has evolved over the last decade into a responsive, sharp-looking SUV that doesn’t make many compromises–especially if you’re looking for reliability and strong resale value.”
  • Edmunds.com explains what makes the MDX such an appealing crossover overall: “Offering familiar comfort, value and performance plus a slew of updates, the 2016 Acura MDX is a top pick among three-row luxury crossovers. [It has a] generous number of features for the money, adept handling, good fuel economy, confident acceleration, quiet cabin, [and] excellent crash-test scores.”
