It’s the standard powertrain for the TLX, but it’s anything but basic. This 2.4L four-cylinder engine features direct injection technology to deliver 206 hp and 182 lb-ft of torque, and its light weight is responsible for the TLX’s nimble handling and respectable fuel economy. The 2015 TLX 8-Spd DCT earns up to an EPA-estimated 35 highway and 24 city mpg.*
What’s a sport sedan without power? This optional and exceptional powertrain option kicks the output up to 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. Acura’s SH-AWD system is available on TLX V6 models, and whether you drive the front-wheel drive or SH-AWD model, you’ll have a fuel-efficient ride: TLX FWD V6 are rated at an EPA-estimated 34 highway mpg while TLX SH-AWD V6 models earn an EPA-estimated 31 highway mpg.*
P-AWS is standard on both four-cylinder and V6 TLX models, and it’s the first all-wheel steer system that lets rear wheels adjust their toe angles separately. By working with Vehicle Stability Assist, P-AWS improves stability, control, and maneuverability.
You don’t need to spend hours on the track to take corners like a pro with Agile Handling Assist. By using the TLX’s Vehicle Stability Assist system, Agile Handling Assist improves the handling through active braking. By braking an inside wheel during a turn, you can trace your ideal line through a curve like you were born on the race track.
A state-of-the-art engine deserves an advanced braking system. Tuned for precision modulation, the system lets you come to a quick stop when needed with ventilated front disc brakes and solid rear discs. Reduced brake running resistance helps to increase the TLX’s overall fuel economy, too.
You should hear the roar of the engine as the tachometer rises toward that redline, but beyond that, we think the ideal car should be seen and not heard. The body structure, suspension, brakes, transmission, and practically every component of the TLX are designed to deliver a quiet, serene drive.
The front end of a TLX is unmistakable thanks to its Jewel Eye LED headlights. These Acura-exclusive lights incorporate five LEDs on each headlights, delivering a brighter and whiter beam while using less energy than traditional bulbs. Their reflectors are made to give off the jewel-like look even when the headlights aren’t on, giving the TLX a level of class other cars won’t match.
On the rear of the TLX is a miniature camera that flips on whenever you switch into reverse. The in-dash display will have a crystal clear look at what’s behind your TLX before you back up, and pressing the “enter” button cycles through standard, top-down, and wide-angle views for the ultimate in peace of mind
The TLX is a smart car. It knows when you approach with the key fob, letting you unlock the doors and start the car without ever taking the keys out of your pocket. It can even set your climate, adjust your music preferences, and position your seat just where you like it with driver memory functions.
Pronounced side bolsters offer lateral support for when you embrace the “sport” in this sport sedan. Each front seat offers three levels of heating with an available ventilation option for comfort in any season. Wrapping these power-adjustable front seats in leather puts the final touches on a comfortable and stylish cockpit.
The TLX is designed to accommodate families just as easily as it is ready to head down the highway at a steady clip, and that means it has a full back seat with room for three full-size adults. When you need to expand the trunk, just fold down part or all of the 60/40 split-folding seats.
Acura goes all-out with the TLX’s available premium audio system, designed by Grammy award-winning recording engineer Elliot Scheiner. He aims to reproduce the high-quality studio experience in your TLX, whether broadcasting radio, streaming over the Internet, or connecting your own digital music library over USB. A 10-speaker stereo system includes four mid-range speakers, four tweeters, a center mid-range speaker, and a subwoofer.
Futuristic shapes combine with the high-tech entertainment features to deliver a seamless dashboard experience with intuitive controls that are within easy reach of the driver.
In order for Acura to deliver the kind of technology integration drivers demand, they had to rethink the center console. Rather than load it up with buttons and dials, they developed the On-Demand Multi-Use Display (ODMD). This display uses a touchscreen to consolidate controls, shifting from one system to the next as needed.
It’s illegal to text and drive in most states, and whether or not it’s against the law, it’s always dangerous. The TLX lets you stay connected while keeping your focus on the road with integrated email and SMS texting as well as compatibility with Siri Eyes Free.
Lane Keeping Assist is the kind of backseat driver you want, with a forward-facing camera that monitors the position of your TLX in its lane, alerting you of potential drifting and helping to keep you centered on the road.
Cruise control is a boon on a long highway trip, but needing to adjust it with the traffic makes it a bit less useful. Adaptive Cruise Control lets your TLX keep pace with the vehicles around it, with a low-speed follow setting that is ideal for commuting, keeping you a safe distance from other vehicles and adjusting your speed accordingly.
This radar-based safety system detects if there are vehicles in the TLX’s “alert zones” and indicates whether a vehicle is there with a light on the windshield pillar and on your dash. If you signal to change lanes where there is a car in the alert zone, the TLX will give you an additional warning.
The TLX is one of the sportiest sedans around, but that doesn’t keep it from being a solid family car. On the contrary, it features LATCH-compliant child safety seat anchoring to secure your son or daughter in his or her safety seat until they are big enough for the seat belt.
A radar sensor on the front of the TLX detects when a you could be following too closely, and if it senses a potential collision, the Collision Mitigation Braking System can automatically apply the brakes to slow or stop your vehicle before hitting another car.
The TLX has an available camera that monitors the side of the road for lane lines and cat eye markers. If it detects you are about to leave the road, it will send a warning message to your dash (and available heads-up display) while tightening the seat belt and directing the vehicle back to the detected lane.
