How Do the 2015 Buick Verano MPG Ratings Compare?

2016 ILX
You shouldn’t have to compromise when it comes to luxury cars, and while the 2015 Buick Verano mpg ratings may beat out some of its competitors, it doesn’t stand a chance against the 2016 Acura ILX. Since its inception, the ILX had one goal: to be the luxury car that professionals can enjoy before retirement age. In order to do that, it has to be competitively equipped and fuel efficient, and Acura’s sedan proves itself in all areas.

The ILX is Powerful and Fuel Efficient

One of the most common misconceptions about a car’s powertrain is that you have to choose between a powerful engine or a fuel efficient one, but that’s not the case with the ILX:

  • The 2016 Acura ILX has a 2.4L four-cylinder engine under the hood, rated at 201 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque, earning an EPA-estimated 36 highway and 25 city mpg.*
  • The Buick Verano, on the other hand, is only rated at 180 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque, and its fuel economy comes up short as well at 32 highway and 21 city mpg.

Even if Buick manages to upgrade the Verano’s fuel economy for the 2016 model year, it’s unlikely that it will be a significant enough improvement to put it into real competition with the ILX.

Acura Offers Real Luxury

After a quick glance at the features that separate these two sedans, it should be clear which one is truly a luxury car and which one simply wishes it were. Each ILX comes with the following features that require upgrade or are unavailable on the Verano:

  • Power moonroof
  • Speed sensing wipers
  • Power-adjustable heated front seating
  • LED headlights
  • Push-button start
  • Paddle shifters

With features like those and and engine like the ILX’s, we know which sedan we would choose.

We hope we’ve convinced you that when it comes to fuel economy, the 2015 Buick Verano mpg ratings simply don’t hold up to the Acura ILX.
