The 2015 Acura TLX Has Been Unveiled!

January 14th, 2014 by

Today — January 14, 2014 — is an important day for Acura, with far-reaching implications for the company’s direction. It was earlier today at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit that the automaker unveiled the 2015 Acura TLX prototype. It’s a stellar sports sedan that will offer impressive performance, nimble handling, and high-tech features in a thoroughly refined package, and it’s due to arrive at your Chicagoland Acura dealers in mid-2014.

Mike Accavitti, senior vice president of American Honda Motor, Co., Inc., lauded the new model, calling it “a precursor of some amazing things we have in store for our Acura sedan customers.” He added, “this completely new model will offer innovative technologies that break down the barriers between the driver and the machine to deliver a more intuitive, connected and personal driving experience.”

How Will the TLX Achieve This Goal?

The car’s stance is low and wide, with shortened overhangs in the front and rear and dynamically sculpted fender arches. The low stance is further enhanced by low-profile tires and a sculpted hood. You’ll feel more connected with the road than ever before — and since the car’s exterior styling dovetails with its dynamic handling, everyone else will know that they’re in the presence of a superb driving machine.

Performance Specs

As for those performance capabilities, you can expect two engine choices:

  • A new 2.4L four-cylinder engine. This engine employs direct injection and Acura’s i-VTEC valvetrain, and it’s actually much lighter previous engines of similar displacement produced by Acura. It will come paired with a new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
  • Drivers who want greater performance will be able to opt for a 3.5L SOHC V6. Some of the features employed by this engine include direct injection, VTEC variable valve control and cam timing, and Variable Cylinder Management cylinder-deactivation technology. This engine comes paired with a new nine-speed automatic transmission. This engine will also give you the option of all-wheel drive.

This is just a peek at what the upcoming 2015 Acura TLX will offer when it’s released later this year. To learn more, visit one of your Chicagoland Acura dealers.
