Comparing Features: 2014 BMW X3 and 2014 Acura RDX

February 28th, 2014 by

When you think of a luxury car maker, there are probably a few names that come to mind. BMW is probably one of them. We hope Acura is right up there too, though.

While BMW has a history of luxury automaking, they have found themselves coming up short against vehicles like the 2014 Acura RDX lately, especially in features.

The 2014 BMW X3, for instance, tries to compete with Acura’s new crossover, but it just doesn’t stand up.

Choosing Acura Means Choosing More

These days, we have just come to accept that most automakers don’t match up to Acura when it comes to features, and that seems to be the case here with the RDX and the X3. Take a look at what standard features are on the RDX that you won’t find on the X3:

  • Leather trimmed seating
  • Front heated seating
  • Power moonroof
  • Rearview camera

Those are just a few of the amenities. And then Acura’s engine gives you more too, with a 273-hp 3.5L V6 under the hood compared to BMW’s 240-hp inline 4-cylinder engine.

And even though the RDX 6-Spd AT with front wheel drive is more powerful than the X3, they both have an EPA-estimated 28 highway mpg fuel economy.* Acura gives you an engine that is more powerful and just as efficient. And they cover it by a powertrain warranty for 72-months/70,000 miles compared to the 48-month/50,000-mile coverage of the BMW.

It looks like an open and shut case to us, but you should see for yourself.
